While Liverpool aren’t exactly in the business of selling Coutinho this summer despite Barcelona’s alleged insistence in the matter, the Reds are, nonetheless, looking around Europe for a replacement, just in case.

Already said to have rejected €100m for their star Brazilian, there’s every chance that Jürgen Klopp’s side could receive another improved bid from the La Liga runners-up in the coming week or so.

If that bid surpasses €120m, will they still say no? Publicly, they’ll make you believe that, but privately? Who knows?

That’s why it isn’t surprising to hear that Liverpool have sent representatives to hold talks with Ajax about a potential deal with their star playmaker, Hakim Ziyech.

The Morocco international, who scored 12 goals and picked up 20 assists in 46 appearances last season, has attracted a lot of interest, and with the Dutch side now out of the Champions League after losing their qualifier against Nice on away goals, an exit could be on the cards.

That is, at least, what Les Lions de L’Atlas are saying in his home country, putting emphasis on Klopp’s insistence in signing Ziyech this summer.

Furthermore, with the news that Adam Lallana will be missing up to three months with an injury picked up over the past few days, a new playmaker might not be the worst of ideas.

While this isn’t the first time the Reds have been linked with the Moroccan attacking midfielder, with flakey reports back in February, this time, it makes a lot more sense.
