Samu Omorodion has made a terrific impact in his time at FC Porto so far and has impressed not just in the domestic league but also in the Europa League.
While Atletico Madrid may be regretting letting the striker leave, there may also be some regret from Chelsea, as the Blues seemed close to signing the player in the summer.
The move fell through, with Chelsea later bringing Joao Felix back to the club.
Omorodion has now spoken to RTVE about the failed move to Stamford Bridge and in the chat, he gave his side on the failed move to Chelsea.
He said, as relayed by O Jogo: “I went through a very difficult period, because, after all, everyone knows that I was about to sign [for Chelsea], but the truth is that it didn’t happen. It was for one reason: God didn’t want it.”
When the move to Stamford Bridge didn’t go through for Omorodion, there was speculation that he’d failed his medical.
So far at Porto though, he hasn’t faced any medical issues and has scored seven times in as many games.
That’s one way to answer the doubts that were building around his future.
