It’s that time of year again. Football clubs around the world will send their stars off for the international break with the hope that they return in one piece and are available for selection for the next club matches.
At this point of the season, a lot of players are pulled out either ahead of travelling or sent home once they’ve been examined by their national team doctors.
The battle between clubs and national sides can often seem like something of a dance around injuries. Whether there’s been disagreement over Nottingham Forest’s Matz Sels is unclear, but he’s now officially out of the Belgium squad for the international break.
The country’s national association has announced the Nottingham Forest player has picked up an adductor injury and will therefore be released from the Belgium squad.
Ortwin De Wolf, who plays his club football for KV Mechelen, has been called up to replace Sels in the squad.
Belgium are set to play Italy and France during this international break.
