Badredine Bouanani may be a name for Everton fans to keep an eye on in future, with the player earning praise from the Blues’ French recruiter Habib Bamogo today.
Nice-Matin hold an interview with the Everton staff member today in which he singles out the Nice youngster and explains what his role entails.
For those that don’t know Bamogo, he’s a former footballer turned scout after ending his career in 2015. He spent most of his career in France, playing for Montpellier, Marseille and OGC Nice as well as spells with Celta Vigo and even Doncaster Rovers.
It means he is well versed when it comes to French football and he is currently using those talents for Everton, having joined the Toffees as a scout in January 2019.
He initially started out with the youngsters but is now scouting for the first team and detailed what the job entails for him.
“I started with the youngsters. Today, I’m much more with the pros. It’s a different job. I travel to Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 stadiums, and I attend Champions League matches. I supervise the new talents; I follow the players’ fitness. It’s going really well.”
While France may not be quite up to the level of some of the top leagues in Europe at this moment in time, after an exodus of big talent from Ligue 1 in recent years, there’s still plenty of talent around.
In fact, the league has continued to be something of a hotbed for young talent, with even big sides like Paris Saint Germain now focusing on young talent for the future.
Bamogo’s job is to find that talent for Everton before anyone else can scoop them up and when asked who he likes at present, there was one name he came up with.
“I like Bouanani, he is a young player who has a lot of talent,” he added.
“He is not yet “done” but he can turn into a top player with time. There are also explosive players like Cho who can create a lot of offensive situations. And behind, it’s solid with Dante who has incredible experience at the top level.”
