Chelsea’s decision to formally announce Aaron Anselmino’s move from Boca Juniors has led to short-term consequences for the player and a change of plans for the Argentine club.
That’s according to journalists Augusto César, Luis Fregossi and Chicho Grosman who have commented on the matter today, relayed by El Intransigente.
Anselmino’s move from Boca to Chelsea was confirmed by the Blues last week, adding him to the ever-expanding list of players to have been signed by Chelsea in the last few years.
He’s one of several young players to have been targeted for the future, with Chelsea happy to leave him in Argentina to continue his development before heading to Stamford Bridge.
It was explained before the transfer was made official that Boca had been left sweating on the matter as, if Chelsea confirmed the deal, they would be forced to register him as a new player and change their squads for the Copa Sudamericana.
That’s now happened, and caused the predicted headache for Boca Juniors as the tournament is set to begin.
“Boca has removed Aaron Anselmino from the Copa Sudamericana roster,” César reported on ESPN.
“The transfer was sent, and Boca is now waiting for the loan approval to be able to use him in the local tournament. The defender is already a legal player of the English club. The centre back will not play the series with Cruzeiro.
“Aaron Anselmino is removed from the Copa Sudamericana roster. He misses the duel with Cruzeiro. It’s all because Chelsea sent the transfer,” added Fregossi, who follows Boca day-to-day.
“The famous transfer arrived and Anselmino is now officially a Chelsea player on loan at Boca,” concluded Chicho Grosman said on TyC Sports.
“If they make it to the quarterfinals, Anselmino will be one of the three changes, but he will miss the round of 16 against Cruzeiro.”
