Burnley striker Wout Weghorst continues to be a target for FC Twente, although there is a growing boredom around the matter not progressing.
That’s at least if journalist Leon ten Voorde’s latest comments are anything to go by, with him admitting he’s becoming tired of Weghorst and the lack of progress.
The Dutch striker is widely expected to leave Burnley this summer after returning from a loan spell at Hoffenheim, who have decided not to sign him on a permanent basis.
He long ago made it clear that he didn’t want to play for Burnley in the Championship and so a move away is likely to be secure for him at some point.
Several clubs back in the Netherlands have expressed an interest, including Twente, who have been working on trying to convince the striker into the move for weeks.
That’s led to growing frustration, particularly for Twente based journalist Ten Voorde, who admits he’s bored of hearing Weghorst’s name.
“I’m a bit tired of Weghorst. It’s such a hassle,” he’s quoted as saying on the De Ballen Verstand podcast.
“Last week at the training camp it looked like things were going to move forward. I think they are fishing in a pond where they almost got a bite. In the end, there was no news at training camp.
“That is of course not ideal and Oosting (Twente manager) was disappointed about that. He had had a great week. He is a trainer who likes structure. Then you have figured everything out, but then you have to cut and paste at the end. That’s just annoying.”
