Once heavily linked with a move to Tottenham, it appears Malaga’s Sandro could be on his way to Everton, if the latest reports from Spain are to be believed.
Of course, a picture of Ronald Koeman having a lovely chat with the player’s agent didn’t help things, and Tottenham’s interest in the 21-year-old has been put on the back burner.
However, it appears that a couple of outlets are trying to bring it back, with both Estadio Deportivo and AS in Spain throwing Spurs into the mix as they list the club as one of a handful capable of beating both Everton and Atlético Madrid to the Spain U21 international.
Signing from Barcelona on a free last summer, Sandro has had a very good season with Malaga, scoring 14 goals and picking up four assists in 28 league appearances.
Capable of playing across the front three, the former Barcelona youngster would be a steal with a release clause of €6m (around £5m), yet his arrival could mean the end of someone’s time at White Hart Lane.
While the likes of Son, Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen are all safe, Georges-Kevin N’Koudou and Erik Lamela aren’t necessarily, and their departure in the summer could force Mauricio Pochettino to quickly nab Sandro.
Everton appear to be in the lead, but don’t write off Tottenham just yet, especially since they were the first on the scene.
