As few Sunderland fans will be reading the Uruguayan media on Wednesday, we are here to let you know that the Black Cats get a mention in El País’ sports newspaper Ovación.

They do so in a story about Juan Sartori, who is still a senator in the South American country as well as being a co-owner of the Stadium of Light residents.

Ovación details the many tasks the politician has in his day-to-day life, and mentions that he was the one who handled a recent very important matter at Sunderland.

It’s claimed that Sartori was the one ‘picking up the phone to fire’ Michael Beale from the Black Cats.

The newspaper points out that the 43-year-old spends most of his time out of Uruguay, as he’s also the vice-president of Monaco in France, and does his best to handle all of his responsibilities.

That’s probably a nice piece of information for Sunderland fans who will have likely been curious about how Beale’s sacking took place.

The manager had taken charge of the club a couple of months ago and was only in the job for 12 games, with a record of four wins, two draws and six defeats.
