Vatan Gazetesi have explained Tottenham Hotspur target Bruma’s bad performance against Fenerbahçe at the weekend.
The newspaper claim Bruma’s concentration was not at the highest level because he knew Tottenham scouts were watching him, and they suggest he tried too hard to impress Mauricio Pochettino’s spies.
Galatasaray lost the derby to Fenerbahçe thanks to a late Josef de Souza header, meaning their pursuit for 2nd spot is effectively over. The club now face competition from Trabzonspor for the final Europa League spot and if they miss out then Bruma’s chances of staying at Galatasaray will be further in doubt.
They believe Bruma always tried to score and there were some occasions in the game that he could have passed the ball to his teammate, but he went for a shot instead, knowing Tottenham were watching.
These antics have not been welcomed by Igor Tudor as he said after the game: ”This is not the performance we expected from Bruma. That’s why I decided to bring Garry (Rodrigues) on. People can criticise that from the outside but as a manager I made this move because I believed this was the right call.”
In recent months Tottenham have been linked with the former Sporting Lisbon player, with claims last week the Premier League club had an agreement to sign the 22-year-old this summer.
Bruma’s club denied these reports of an offer from Tottenham, but with his contract situation still not solved its likely he will continue to receive interest from the North London club.
Pochettino is continually linked with flying wingers, and Bruma is certainly one of those.
