Colombian forward Jeison Lucumi is one of the most important players in America de Cali’s squad. Vital in the club’s promotion to the first division last year, the 22-year-old has kept up his good form in the current season and has been excelling in the top league.
As reported by AS Colombia today, the player could be leaving the club soon. He has offers to play in the Portuguese league, and Libertadores champions Atletico Nacional are also interested in signing him.
But Lucumi seems to be dreaming higher. Interviewed by the the same outlet, the player was asked about his future, and revealed the one club he wants to play for… Manchester United.
“My dream is to go to play for Manchester United and with God’s help I’ll achieve it,” Lucumi told AS. “I follow Rooney, I watched him since I was very young, and now I like very much how Lingard plays.”
It’s really something common to see South Americans who dream of playing for Manchester United, but using an interview to share admiration for Jesse Lingard… we must admit it’s the first time we’ve seen something like this.
Lingard has been steadily cementing his place in Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United squad, and the player’s recent contract extension underlined his status. As for Lucumi, there’s nothing wrong in having dreams.
