Declaring his loyalty to Aston Villa just before the January transfer window, Jordan Amavi was determined to finish the season with the Championship club to repay the trust the staff and fans put in him following his bad injury last year.

However, with no chance of getting promoted to the Premier League this time around, keeping hold of some of their better players might by difficult for Dr. Tony Xia and co., especially if reputable clubs come knocking.

Marseille were said to be very interested in Amavi, but it’s a Champions League club who have now turned their attention to the French left-back.

According to SportMediaSet over the weekend, Napoli, who are expected to wave Faouzi Ghoulam, one of their current left-backs, goodbye in the summer, are said to be following the Aston Villa defender with great interest.

The club’s director of football has been keeping an eye on the 23-year-old’s performances this season, and has put his name down on a three-man shortlist for the summer.

The other names are Benfica’s Alejandro Grimaldo and Bari’s Giuseppe Scalera, with the former of the two the favourite for the role.

However, if Benfica refuse to let him go for less than his release clause, Napoli could quickly turn their attention to Jordan Amavi more seriously.
