Nottingham Forest’s mad deadline day scramble to find a goalkeeper has also taken them to Spain, where they’ve seen a bid for Real Betis’ Rui Silva rejected.
That’s according to Diario de Sevilla, who say Nottingham Forest offered €8m for the Portuguese goalkeeper to sign him today.
Forest have seemingly decided they need a new goalkeeper before the end of the window, with Nuno Espirito Santo apparently unimpressed by Matt Turner and Odysséas Vlachodimos.
That’s seen bids going in all over Europe for various names and another to add to the list is that of Rui Silva, according to Diario de Sevilla.
They have no intention of letting their starting goalkeeper leave on deadline day and stopped the effort from Nottingham Forest in its tracks, despite a general need to bring in money and free up space on the wage bill.
Whether that will put off Forest and ensure they do not return with a second bid, remains to be seen. They’re putting bids in everywhere for goalkeepers, with only the move for Mats Sels seemingly going anywhere at this moment in time.
Their initial effort for Silva came to nothing and DS say everything indicates he’ll be staying, unless Nottingham Forest ‘very considerably raise’ their initial proposal’ at some point today.
