Bought from Atalanta during the summer of 2022, Remo Freuler made 33 appearances for Nottingham Forest last season but ended up finishing the season on the bench.

That led to him wanting to leave the Premier League club this summer, and a deal was eventually struck with Bologna for a loan with an obligation to buy under certain conditions, with Nico Dominguez coming the other way.

Freuler was finally presented to the Italian media on Friday, relayed by Bologna Sports News, where he discussed his exit from Nottingham Forest in a bit more details.

He first reassured everyone about his fitness, explaining he had enjoyed some minutes on the pitch during the Tricky Trees’ pre-season and was used by Switzerland during the recent international break.

However, when it came to his transfer from Nottingham Forest, he also made a point to apologise for some comments he made during the negotiations.

He said: “It wasn’t easy. I said something in German that I should have had more patience with, but I said wasn’t translated well. I understand that when multiple players are involved, it’s not trivial.”

That’s because there was also the deal for Nico Dominguez to think about at the time, and the failure of one would have led to the other collapsing.

In the end, all was well, and the 31-year-old got the exit from Nottingham Forest he was hoping for, returning to Italy, a country he knows very well.
