Burnley’s move for Genk attacker Mike Trésor now appears to have collapsed after the player had a late-night change of heart on the move to Turf Moor.

That’s according to Het Laatste Nieuws, who say the 24-year-old ‘does not seem to be leaving’ Genk despite a transfer having appeared close as of yesterday afternoon.

The newspaper explains that Trésor had previously reached an agreement with Burnley and Vincent Kompany, with the chance of the move going through seemingly ‘very high’ until Wednesday afternoon.

Burnley made a concrete move for the player last weekend, offering a loan with a mandatory purchase option that would have allowed them to comply with Financial Fair Play rules.

Genk agreed and Trésor subsequently reached a personal agreement with Burney, even going as far as to say goodbye to Genk on Tuesday and planning to make the trip to England for a medical.

However, Wednesday evening saw a ‘hitch’ in the proceedings as Trésor ‘started to doubt’ whether Burnley’s style of play suited him and ultimately ‘pulled the plug’ on the deal.

It now remains to be seen if Burnley, and more importantly Vincent Kompany, ‘can still convince him’ to change his mind once again in the last two days of the transfer window.

If he doesn’t make the switch, it will be the latest failure for the player this summer, who has been linked with several teams in England but not gone anywhere with any of them.
