Sporting Club de Portugal striker Chermiti is yet to finalise a deal with Everton, with the two sides currently apart on wage expectations but expected to find a compromise soon.
That’s according to O Jogo and Record, who both say while there is a and agreement in principle between the two clubs, the player is yet to finalise his terms.
The former reports that the Toffees have struck an agreement with Sporting for the striker, worth €15m plus another €5m in various bonuses.
They claim that Sean Dyche has been pushing for the deal to take place and those in charge at Goodison Park are pushing to make it happen.
Their belief is that Chermiti will be in Liverpool before the end of the week to carry out his medical. He could even be available for the friendly against Sporting at the weekend.
Record say the same, stating that both clubs have reached an agreement for the transfer and echoing the figures from their fellow Portuguese newspaper.
Where the deal is stuck is the agreement between Everton and the striker, with the Blues needing to up their offer.
O Jogo state that the striker was left unimpressed by the first proposal sent to him by Everton, with the player’s expectations regarding wages ‘very different’ from what was offered.
Everton have been made aware of that and it is considered certain that they will increase their bid in the next few hours to convince Chermiti of the move to Goodison Park.
Record back all of this up, explaining that Chermiti is a ‘short step away’ from joining Everton but finding an agreement with him has proven to be ‘more complicated’ than finding one with Sporting.
The player is said to have refused the first proposal sent to him but was ‘seduced by a second offer’. They also state he could be presented to Everton fans during the friendly with Sporting this weekend.
It’s all positive news from Portugal really, with Everton seemingly just needing to slightly up their offer to the player to get this deal over the line.
