Just under a month ago, we wrote a lengthy article explaining how the Romelu Lukaku contract situation might not be as promising as first advertised by Mino Raiola.
Dreaming of winning trophies and playing Champions League football on a consistent basis, Lukaku knows he probably won’t fulfil his desires at Goodison Park, and a move in the summer remains likely.
So likely, in fact, that the Everton striker allegedly admitted to Playsports in Belgium over the weekend that he would not be extending his stay on Merseyside, as relayed by Het Belang Van Limburg.
Asked about his future at Goodison Park, the player reported said “no, no and no”, which the Belgian newspaper claim is against the advice from Mino Raiola, who would favour Lukaku signing a new deal at Everton.
Furthermore, the player is said to be asking for an ‘escape clause’ for the summer so he can leave for a fixed price, with Chelsea, the club of his dreams, at the front of his mind.
With a deal currently running until 2019 at Everton, this summer could very well be Lukaku’s last at the club.
However, for a transfer to happen, clubs will have to match or exceed the club’s valuation of the player, which is likely to be very expensive.
