Valencia’s interest in signing Ignacio Camacho is turning into something of a soap opera in Spain. There’s been public messages sent between Valencia and Camacho’s current club Malaga, and that has continued this week.
Malaga president Abdullah Ben Nasser Al Thani announced during the summer that West Brom had made a move for Camacho, and the player wanted the move. West Brom wouldn’t pay the player’s €18m clause all in one go and so Malaga refused to budge.
Al Thani has taken to Twitter again to mock a report about Valencia interest in Malaga players, including Camacho. Las Provincias feel he was mocking Valencia owner Peter Lim about the situation.
This kind of thing is likely to pop up again before the summer, and Al Thani would likely prefer the player to go to West Brom over Valencia. The English club will likely also have a financial advnatage as Valencia try to balance squad improvement with FFP.
Valencia have already publicly committed to paying Juventus a total of €18m for Simone Zaza, and can buy Eliaquim Mangala for the same amount from Manchester City in the summer.
Whilst the Spanish club would rather get Mangala on another season loan, the defender’s good La Liga performances should convince Manchester City to put their foot down and demand the fee or sell the player elsewhere.
