Kara Mbodj was the one that got away for Leicester City during the January transfer window. Leicester City made two offers to Anderlecht for the defender, but the Belgian club were against a sale, preferring to wait until the summer instead.
Waiting and things getting worse, or having surgery in the summer, could potentially put Leicester City off a summer move and therefore it was a tense situation for Anderlecht and Mbodj.
Anderlecht won out and Mbodji didn’t undergo surgery, but now the knee has flared up and Belgium’s DH say he’s set to be out for between 10 days and a month. The problem clearly hasn’t gone away and given that he’s now set to be out anyway, the option of a surgical clean up was probably the wisest route to take.
