Earlier on Tuesday, we relayed news from Italy that Leeds United have joined Inter Milan, AC Milan and Eintracht Frankfurt in the chase for Club Atlético Tigre’s Mateo Retegui in the summer.

It was also explained that the Nerazzurri have held talks but lack necessary funds to carry out the deal for the 23-year-old after this season.

With Leeds in the mix to sign the striker, Sky Deutschland journalist Florian Plettenberg took to Twitter to provide an update about his asking price.

Eintracht Frankfurt are interested in the Argentine-born Italy international and Plettenberg explains the Bundesliga side’s sporting director, Markus Krösche, is ‘pushing a lot’ to bring him to Germany, and Leeds would have to beware of this.

The ‘high quality’ forward is currently on loan at Tigre from Boca Juniors and the former have an option to make his stay permanent. He has scored seven goals from 10 matches this year.

According to the journalist, the biggest problem for Eintracht Frankfurt is Retegui’s asking price of ‘more than €15m’.

Plettenberg doesn’t mention Leeds but the price quoted here is unlikely to be an issue for Javi Gracia’s side if they manage to avoid the drop back to the Championship.
