Knowing he would likely never get a chance of representing England due to the competition at his post, Matty Cash, currently contracted to Aston Villa, ended up getting his Polish nationality to play for Poland.
He has since represented the country 12 times, and picked up a goal, and he was called up once again for the international break, with their first game being against Czech Republic.
Unfortunately for the Aston Villa defender, it all ended after nine minutes as he came off injured, but not before he was seen to be partially fault for the opponent’s second goal, scored in the third minute, as explained by Przeglad Sportowy.
That didn’t go down well with some, including pundit Tomasz Hajto, who has accused the Aston Villa player of faking the injury.
He said: “I never said he faked an injury, but I think he did. I don’t want to believe that after such a few minutes, after which he went down, he didn’t want to rehabilitate himself. His injury is not a tear or torn fibres, it’s an alleged strain.
“I would stay until Monday. I would like to heal at all costs and show the manager that I care. Say: ‘I’m sorry coach, but I’m ready and with Albania, I will be the best on the pitch’. And now we find out that he is packing up and leaving.”
He said this on the show Cafe Futbol, recalling that when he was a player, he faced a similar situation but stayed behind and came back.
We’ll now have to wait and see how long the Aston Villa player will be out for.
