Massimo Cellino and Brescia, club release official statement
Brescia have released a statement to confirm they are not in talks to sell the club to Massimo Cellino. The Leeds United chief in recent months has been linked with a return to Italian football with the Serie B side.
A spokesperson for Brescia has confirmed via their official site they haven’t had offers from any party wanting to purchase the club. It’s been revealed they aren’t currently in talks to sell the club, and in particular there hasn’t been any contact with Cellino.
“In relation to the insistent news about the impending sale of the club, Giuseppe Pirola, the professional responsible to receive and evaluate any expressions of interest, declares that the club has not been sold and is not in any negotiations at the moment, in particular, there is no contact, direct or indirect, with Cellino.’
There were recent claims in Italy Cellino could look to purchase a majority stake in Brescia despite still having 50% shares in Leeds United. Brescia has become a more financially attractive club over the past year as they’ve managed to clear their debt problem.
It’s also been suggested Leeds United and Brescia could form a partnership, which would see players from the Championship side sent out on loan to Italy. Andrea Radrizzani will have his own plans for the future of Leeds but so far there’s been no sign of any tensions between the two Italians.
If any partnership with Brescia, or any other Italian club, could be beneficial for Leeds then it would certainly be worth looking into. But, right now, Brescia have done their best to make it clear Cellino is not in the process of trying to buying to the club.
