Enjoying a very decent season with KRC Genk, Timothy Castagne has started to attract a bit of interest from clubs around Europe, and helping his side into the last 16 of the Europa League will have helped his prospects of a summer transfer.
The defender was speaking to Erik Libois on Vivacité, relayed by RTBF on Friday, and was asked what his dream club was.
He said: “When I was younger, I supported Anderlecht. These days, however, I’m absolutely crazy about Arsenal, for their will to play young players and always attacking”.
Being a right-back, you could forgive him if he didn’t have many Arsenal idols, maybe citing Lee Dixon or Lauren as inspirations, yet he does, and it’s a surprising one for a defender.
He explained: “It’s Thierry Henry. I nearly met him once. I saw him at Tubize, but I was training with the Belgium U21s, and it’s hard to leave the session… When I went to see him, he’d already gone.”
An extra motivation to make it to the Belgium squad, perhaps?
Or, and this is perhaps a long shot, maybe he’ll get to be managed by the former France striker at Arsenal one day?
