Tottenham Hotspur will have someone watch Anderlecht take on Zenit in the Europa League on Thursday evening, reports Het Nieuwsblad, and it’s not uncommon for Spurs to have someone watch the club.

One of the players on show is Andy Najar, a man with Tottenham links going back as far as 2011. At the time it was reported Najar was set for a trial period with Spurs, one of several MLS youngsters interesting Premier League clubs.

In 2013 Najar moved to Anderlecht and in 2014 The Daily Star ran an exclusive that Tottenham were lining up a £4m offer for the player. More links followed and in November 2015 Najar was set to face Spurs in the Europa League, and said: “Would I like to play in the Premier League? Of course, that is a dream for any footballer, but there hasn’t been more contact with Tottenham. I see the match on Thursday as a job.”

Tottenham were linked again in early 2016 and have continued to scout Anderlecht. Najar, now 23 years of age, is primarily a right back, but can also play further forward.

However, despite all of those links, it’s quite possible, indeed probable, that Tottenham would have their eye on someone else.

Leander Dendoncker, a 21 year old defensive midfielder and Nicolae Stanciu, a 23 year old attacking midfielder, are both shining for Anderlecht this season.

Lukasz Teodorczyk is in brilliant goalscoring form, with over 20 goals already, and the 25 year old striker is on loan from Dynamo Kyiv.

Our guess? Tielemans.
