Nottingham Forest made a late bid for Beşiktaş defender Romain Saiss but it was deemed ‘insufficient’ by the Turkish side.
That’s according to journalist Gökmen Özcan, who says the €3m offer was considered unacceptable for the Morocco star.
Saiss has been with Beşiktaş since the summer when he left Wolves on a free transfer but saw his reputation soar during the World Cup when he was one of the stars of Morocco’s campaign in Qatar.
That had seen him linked with a return to the Premier League or other leagues in Europe but he ultimately ended up staying in the Super Lig.
It seems there was interest late on in the window, though, with Özcan reporting that Nottingham Forest ‘offered Beşiktaş €3m’ for him.
Their belief is that the player can be successful at the club between now and the end of the season and ‘go for a good price’ at the end of the season.
Whether that is to Nottingham Forest remains to be seen, but they were certainly interested in the player on deadline day and were willing to pay to get him.
