The failure of Marvin Zeegelaar’s move from Sporting to Norwich City wasn’t good news for the Portuguese club.

Actually, it’s not their fault. As reported by the Portuguese press this week, Sporting had agreed a fee with Norwich of €3.75m plus €500k in bonuses, but the player wasn’t really keen on joining the Canaries.

Even though Sporting thought it would be easy to find another deal to move Zeegelar out of the club, things have been a bit more complicated.

According to A Bola, the Portuguese club are demanding €5m from CSKA, but all the Russian side want to pay for the player is €3m.

CSKA are almost certainly aware of the fee agreed with Norwich City, and knowing Sporting don’t have a big list of contenders for him, they’ll bargain as much as possible.

Given that the man responsible for the Norwich transfer to collapse was from the player, it’s hard to think he’ll have second thoughts and end up joining in the summer instead.

The Russian transfer window closes on February 24th, and whilst Sporting want CSKA to pay more than Norwich City agree, that doesn’t sound like the most convincing plan.
