Former Leeds United manager Neil Redfearn believes Garry Monk made a good decision bringing in Alfonso Pedraza during the last transfer window. The young Spaniard has initially joined Leeds United on loan from his parent club Villarreal.

Speaking to Radio Yorkshire, Redfearn said he was impressed with Pedraza’s debut against Huddersfield Town last weekend, and he showed he has the ability to go past defenders. Redfearn believes Pedraza’s speed should make him a hit at Leeds United, and he expects the player will be admired by the fans.

“I thought he had a really good debut when he came on, really positive, really front foot, got a real turn of pace, takes defenders on. That sort of pace and that sort of positivity will really go down well with the Elland Road faithful,” said Redfearn.

Pedraza was one of the surprise signings in the last transfer window following his loan move to Leeds United. The player can become a permanent fixture at Elland Road for €10m if Leeds United can achieve promotion to the Premier League.

Monk’s side are currently in the play-off spots, and still have an outside chance of grabbing one of the automatic places.
