Gerard Deulofeu is being hyped up in Italy after an assist against Bologna helped win AC Milan their last match. The grand old Italian club is continually looking for the light at the end of the tunnel, and a hero to guide the way.

Joining from Everton on loan in the January transfer window, Deulofeu is that man and right now there’s huge excitement at the potential of the player in a false nine position. Comparisons are already being made, and Gazzetta dello Sport bring Kaka into it on Friday.

This is on the back of one assist, albeit made in a great individual performance, in four games since Deulofeu’s Everton move. Perhaps things are going too far too quickly, but there’s no holding back football optimism.

It’s probably not that complicated really. Barcelona sold Deulofeu to Everton because he’d been disappointing manager Luis Enrique, there were concerns about attitude as well as application.

Unless Deulofeu does turn into peak Kaka this season, then it’s very unlikely Everton will be getting a call from Barcelona. Even if Enrique goes, it’s been pretty clear Ronald Koeman hasn’t been impressed, and with the Dutchman still a much liked figure at Barca, and a potential future manager, that he didn’t want Deulofeu at Everton further underlines Enrique’s opinion.
