And we’re back at the Italian media not really agreeing with what’s going on regarding the transfer of Manolo Gabbiadini from Napoli to Southampton.
Over the weekend, it seems that everyone concurred the player would be on his way to St Mary’s fairly soon, but Monday morning blues appeared to hit Aurelio de Laurentiis hard.
Corriere dello Sport reported the Napoli owner was in a terrible mood after his side failed to jump past AS Roma in the league table on Sunday, drawing 1-1 against Palermo, and froze the transfer out of anger.
However, Il Mattino, not afraid to be different, are all rosy on Monday morning, seemingly unaffected by the start of a new week of work, and claim the player is well and truly on his way to team up with Claude Puel at Southampton.
Even with the bonuses still needing to be finalised, Aurelio de Laurentiis has apparently give the go ahead for the transfer, and Manolo Gabbiadini is even expected to hold his medical on Monday, according to the Italian newspaper.
The player has said yes to the move, and is expected to sign a four and a half year contract that would see him stay at St Mary’s until 2021.
We’ve been saying for a while that Napoli’s ‘bend but don’t break’ approach to negotiations was bound to eventually falter, and this looks set to be completed in the next 36 hours or so.
Either that, or it all collapses dramatically at the last minute, as was the case with a proposed move to Everton, which would befit Aurelio De Laurentiis perfectly, if we’re being perfectly honest.
