Former Leeds United forward Andy Ritchie has spoken about his admiration for Elland Road favourite Chris Wood. The Leeds United star has been in impressive form this season during his side’s push for promotion.
Writing in his column for the YEP, Ritchie said what Wood has done so far this season with his goals has been brilliant. Ritchie believes it’s quite an achievement that the New Zealand international has scored this many goals in a tough league like the Championship, and thinks if Leeds United were to sell him he would go for a big fee.
“He has seen what he can do and 20 goals for the season is absolutely brilliant at this stage. But he’s showing what he can become and to score 20 goals or more at Championship level is a feat in itself because it’s a tough, tough league. He must be worth double figures now in terms of millions,” said the former Leeds United star.
Due to his form this season Wood has been linked with a move away from Leeds United in this transfer window. There were recent claims West Ham United and Sunderland were interested in the forward, but would have to pay £15m to land him. Wood has also been linked with a move to China in the past week.
