Liverpool are ‘watching’ Saint-Etienne youngster Saidou Sow and have even sent scouts to watch him on international duty with Guinea.

That’s according to L’Equipe, who say ‘representatives’ from Liverpool were in Cairo to watch the player for Guinea in their clash with Egypt.

They explains the Sow is ‘taking advantage’ this month to get more playing time, having returned from AFCON in January with an ankle injury that limited his minutes until the end of the season.

He’s ‘seized the opportunity’ to play for Guinea, and it’s been worth his while, too, with ‘emissaries’ from Liverpool taking in the game, in which he came up against Mohamed Salah.

They had been advised to do so by Reds midfielder Naby Keita, who believes his club should be looking at the central defender after playing alongside him as his captain on international duty.

Sow has a contract with ASSE until 2025, and while he has lost some market value due to a lack of playing time, he is still one of the newly relegated side’s ‘most bankable players’.

Those in charge of the club ‘will not oppose’ a transfer, but it will take an ‘interesting’ offer for them to consider it.
