Leicester City have made ‘concrete enquiries’ for Hoffenheim midfielder Christoph Baumgartner, and he may not be the only arrival from the Bundesliga this summer.
That’s according to SportBILD, who say that the Foxes also have their eye on Union Berlin striker Taiwo Awoniyi.
First, the midfielder, who they explain has been earning plenty of interest after developing over the last five years with Hoffenheim.
Now 22-years-old, he has plenty of admirers, including Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, who ‘keeps a close eye’ on his development.
He has a release clause of around €30m in his current contract, which runs until 2025, and that’s not put off those interested.
Awoniyi, meanwhile, has been earning attention after scoring 13 goals for Union Berlin following a permanent move from Liverpool in the summer.
That’s earned him plenty of attention, and SportBILD say number of ‘English middle-class clubs’ such as Leicester are ‘trying to sign him’ in the summer.
They’re boosted by the fact the player is determined to play in the Premier League, having admitted that’s been his ‘dream’ since he was a boy.
His €20m release clause is not all that prohibitive either, particularly for someone like Leicester, whose owners are happy to give Brendan Rodgers money to spend.
Whether they will pay such a figure, or the €30m for Baumgartner, remains to be seen, but it seems there is interest from the King Power nonetheless.
