With the European transfer window now closed, Brazilian side Flamengo are now expected go shopping in the Old Continent and find potential good deals.

As reported by Globo Esporte, one of the targets for this new trip is Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira, whose loan with the Rio de Janeiro club expires in the summer.

According to the story, Flamengo officials Bruno Spindel and Marcos Braz are travelling to England on Thursday, and the talks with the Red Devils for the permanent deal is one of the priorities.

An official €8m bid had already been submitted in January, with Braz recently admitting that Manchester United were still to respond to it.

The intention would now be to ‘strengthen ties with the British’ so the offer and ‘advance with the purchase’ of the 26-year-old.

The agreement between the clubs includes a buying option worth €20m, so the Red Devils may use that as an argument for a bigger fee, but it’s very clear the Brazilian side have no interest in paying that much for the midfielder.
