As Benfica continue to resist West Ham United’s efforts for the transfer of Darwin Nunez, the Eagles reportedly turned down a new bid from the Hammers.
According to Record, there’s been an offer of €50m on the table, and the amount was considered to be ‘insufficient’ by the Lisbon side.
The outlet claims West Ham ‘do not give up’, but Benfica ‘will not let Darwin leave’.
Benfica are firstly not keen on selling the striker now because they consider him to be a ‘fundamental piece’ in their squad, as there’s still a fight for the league title this season.
Then the Eagles believe that in the mid-term, he could actually be sold for ‘astronomic amounts’, which makes West Ham’s bid insufficient.
Record claims it’s still not known if the Hammers will make a new attempt, as they’re now ‘getting desperate’ in a chase for a new centre-forward, and Darwin is ‘on top of the priorities’.
Still, they should be aware that it’ll be quite hard to convince Benfica.
