Now retired, Demba Ba is free to look back on his career with non-biased eyes.
The 36-year-old called it a day in September of this year after a few months with FC Lugano in Switzerland, putting an end to a career that started in 2005, and saw him play in seven different countries for 11 different clubs.
He stayed three years in the Premier League, playing for West Ham, Newcastle and Chelsea in that time, winning a Europa League with the latter of the three.
His time at Stamford Bridge will probably best be remembered for that goal he scored following a slip by a certain Steven Gerrard, and playing for the Blues is something he’d had in mind since he was a child.
He said: “My dream would have been to play for Paris, and sometimes dreams are good where they are. Dreams remain dreams. At the time of the transfer, I was really happy, because playing for Chelsea was an objective.
“Chelsea was written on a piece of paper when I was 16, with other clubs around it. It was already planned 10 years before, in my head. In my career as a football, I started with a map to follow”.
During his time at Stamford Bridge, Demba Ba made 51 appearances in all competitions, scored 14 goals and assisted another five.
