AS Roma could revive their interest in Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek in January after being interested in the summer transfer window.

That’s according to Calciomercato, who say the midfielder can be secured for ‘less than €15m’ by Jose Mourinho and co.

They explain that there was talk of a move this summer when Roma closed a deal with Chelsea for striker Tammy Abraham.

It ultimately never happened, and Loftus-Cheek ended up staying at Stamford Bridge but has not been a regular under Thomas Tuchel so far.

That’s largely due to the wealth of midfielder talent available to the German coach, which means players like Loftus-Cheek have plenty of competition in front of them.

Thus the link with Roma ‘could be reopened’, with Mourinho keen to add a midfielder to his squad, as evidenced by their long and unsuccessful pursuit of Granit Xhaka this summer.

Unlike the Switzerland star, though, the Chelsea man is available for less than €15m, a more than reasonable price for the Italian side.

Now, that’s all the information Calciomercato offer at this point, so there’s no mention of talks so far or anything of that nature.

Indeed, this is one of their very short articles, with the details pretty thin on the ground at this point in time.

Thus, we’d suggest a hefty pinch of salt at this moment in time and wait to see if something more substantial comes along before getting too excited.
