Gabriel Jesus still hasn’t moved to Manchester. The player is in Brazil, where he was invited on the TV show ‘Altas Horas’ and spoke a bit about his transfer.
The show is only going on air on Saturday night, but Globo’s website have already released a few quotes from the player.
“He said he counts on me a lot. That’s important for us players. He’s a guy who’s hooked on football. I got there and he stayed from eight to eight moving the board. He lives football. I liked it, let’s see how it goes.”
Gabriel Jesus was also asked if he’s worried about finding a different food culture in Europe, as most Brazilians struggle with it. That’s one of the reasons why his mom is going with him: “I’m taking her to cook (laughs). But Fernandinho, who plays there, told me there’s a small Brazilian store which has everything.”
Singer Daniela Mercury, who was also on the show, gave him some advice: “Take beans and flour in your bag, boy. That’s what I do when I go to Europe.”
The beans are more important than you’d think. Gabriel Jesus’ mother Vera Lúcia spoke to Terra on Friday and also showed concern about the food: “It’s not possible that there won’t be rice, beans and an egg for me to fry!”
She also said the striker was already using the team when playing video games: “Yeah, it was already his team.”
Gabriel Jesus is set to join Manchester City when the January market opens. The English club paid €32m for the wonderkid.
