It’s been for great days for Ivan Cavaleiro. That’s how the Portuguese newspaper Record describe the player’s form after he scored a goal at the weekend and made an assist yesterday.
The 23-year-old scored one of the goals in the 4-4 draw against Fulham on Saturday. On Tuesday evening, he created the goal which put Wolves in the lead against Cardiff City. But he was subbed off and then the Welsh club made a comeback, winning 2-1.
Cavaleiro also spoke about the differences he’s found in English football. The striker, who was playing in the French league before joining Wolverhampton, feels the referees are very different: “I feel I’m still in the adaptation stage, because English football is different from Portuguese in terms of aggressiveness and intensity, and also the referees, so the English do not give so many free-kicks, they do not give much importance to the pushes.”
And on his adaptation to the club, Cavaleiro said: “I come from a difficult injury and as such I haven’t many minutes of play yet, I am better physically and I feel ready to help the team, trying to score goals and create assists. This is one of my goals, although the collective is always in first place. ”
Cavaleiro still isn’t exactly living up to the expectations at Wolverhampton. The club paid €8m for him in the summer, and he has only two goals and three assists for now.
