Wolverhampton Wanderers could be set to make a €25m bid for Valencia forward Goncalo Guedes.
That’s according to El Chiringuito journalist Alex Silvestre, who says the Spanish side are likely to demand a higher fee for their man.
Wolves have long been linked with a move for the Valencia forward, with it believed they are keen to get him off the wage bill and earn a transfer fee at the same time.
There’s been little movement on that front for several weeks, but a deal was very much posible because of Jorge Mendes, who represents the player and has close ties to both clubs.
“Valencia could receive an offer of €25m in the next few hours from English side Wolverhampton,” he told El Chiringuito.
“For comfort, Jorge Mendes is being the intermediary of this operation, but what we know at the moment is that Valencia don’t want to undersell the player and will ask for a higher amount for the Portuguese footballer.”
It remains to be seen what sort of price Valencia ask for to let Guedes go this summer then, given the financial situation at the club.
It’s well established that they desperately need money, and we’re sure Wolves will want to take advantage of that if they can.
Perhaps that’s where Mendes comes into the mix, with him brokering the deal to suit both parties and get another of his clients through the door at Molineux.
