Everton could make a move for Napoli star Lorenzo Insigne this summer as his contract situation at the club continues to cause problems.
That’s according to Ciro Venerato, who says the Blues could be one of the options for the Italian forward.
Insigne’s deal with Napoli expires next summer, and so far, there has been no sign of a renewal, despite both parties seemingly being keen on it.
He’s subsequently been linked with a move away, and the last few weeks have seen Everton named as a surprise and unlikely possible destination.
“Until August 31, there will be no talk about it. Inter have two priorities which are Zapata and Correa. If they vanish, Marotta would call De Laurentiis for Insigne. Napoli do not veto the transfer,” Casa Napoli report him saying.
“Inter have made a survey for both Insigne and Correa of Lazio. At the moment, Napoli’s valuation of him is around 30 million.
“Marotta has tried to put together a deal for less than 15 million + Alexis Sanchez, but the Chilean is too expensive for the Azzurri.
“Everton could also make an offer for Insigne, while Atletico Madrid are a possibility next year in case he leaves zero.”
This is not the first time Venerato has named Everton as a possible destination for Insigne, and we’re sure it won’t be the last.
Like those other times, we find it very unlikely to happen given the Italian’s wages and the financial situation at Goodison Park.
It’s also worth remembering that not long ago, Venerato was claiming that Tottenham’s Fabio Paratici had told him explicitly that Insigne would not be moving to England this summer.
That’s another indicator a move to Everton won’t be happening, although clearly, someone somewhere is putting out the idea that it’s possible.
