Crystal Palace striker Christian Benteke has hinted he could make a return to Belgium at some point in his career.
The Belgian striker has been at Crystal Palace since a £28m move from Liverpool in 2016 and signed a new deal at Selhurst Park to tie him to the club until 2023 earlier this year.
Before that, his deal had been expiring, and he was linked with numerous moves across Europe, including a return to his homeland.
Benteke spent the vast part of his career working his way up the ladder in Belgium, staring with Standard Liege before joining Genk in 2007.
He also enjoyed spells with Standard Liege and KV Mechelen as well before his move to England with Aston Villa in 2012.
He’s been in the Premier League since, but a return to Belgium would make sense for the Crystal Palace striker at some point.
And he’s opened the door to that happening, insisting you can never say never with such things.
“Frankly, I have no idea,” he told Eleven Sports, relayed by Le Soir.
“You should never say never. But of course, it’s an option because it’s a championship that I appreciate, which has allowed me to be discovered in the eyes of the world. So yes, why not?”
