Arsenal star named in European Team of the Week after West Ham demolition

 

It’s no surprise Alexis Sanchez has found his way into Gazzetta dello Sport’s European Team of the Week. The grand old Italian newspaper each week pick a selection of the best players around the continent, excluding their own Serie A.

They could hardly exclude Sanchez, who made his name in Serie A with Udinese, after his excellent hat-trick against West Ham at the weekend. Arsenal ran out 5-1 victors and Arsene Wenger can only be thrilled with such a performance in an away game.

Sanchez is proving as crucial to Arsenal as he is to his country, and the Chilean international has somehow maintained fitness despite pushing himself to the limits for his country’s last World Cup Qualifier.

Joint Premier League top goalscorer with Diego Costa, Sanchez playing upfront brings a new fear for Arsenal opponents and when it works well, which is more often than not, it’s hard for sides to deal with the player’s ability coming at them so fast.

Sanchez is one of three Premier League players in the selection this week.
