Reported Liverpool target Sven Botman has admitted it is ‘flattering’ to see his name linked with big clubs this summer.

Botman has had an impressive campaign in France this season, playing a starring role in Lille’s surprise Ligue 1 success.

That’s only helped to increase the suitors for the Dutchman, who has been heavily linked with a move to a bigger club for the best part of the last year.

Liverpool have regularly been named as one of the interested parties, with them linked regularly through the January transfer window amid their defensive crisis.

Back in December, it was stated that they had ‘expressed their interest’ in the 21-year-old and were even ‘prepared’ to pay €50m for him.

This was later followed up by a report at the end of the January transfer window when it was stated Liverpool wouldn’t be making a move at that point despite being ‘notably’ interested in him.

Whether that interest remains this summer, when they will undoubtedly be trying to sign a defender again, remains to be seen, but Botman is aware of the reports nonetheless.

“I’m not really concerned with that at all,” he told De Telegraaf.

“Of course, I have seen and heard all the rumours, and it is flattering that your name is associated with top clubs. But I leave all that to my agents.”
