During the last transfer window Leeds United brought in two Swedish players in Marcus Antonsson and Pontus Jansson. The Championship side over the years have had a history of signing Scandinavia players, and another they could consider is Kalmar midfielder Rasmus Elm.
Elm is highly rated in Sweden, and was once was regarded as second only to Manchester United forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic by the then Sweden national coach. However, the 28-year-old hasn’t made the best career decisions and now finds himself back in Sweden after ripping up his contract with CSKA Moscow last year.
The Sweden international’s contract with Kalmar expires next summer, and Fotbolldirekt believe there is a very good chance he won’t extend this. The Swedish football outlet say there is a possibility Elm could again try his luck abroad, which subsequently means foreign clubs would be able to approach him in the new year with regards to a pre-contract agreement.
Elm could be seen as something of a risk because of recent abdominal problems, but the chance to sign a player of his class on a free transfer could be a good bit of business for a club like Leeds United.
