This week, Lucas Torreira’s father has been talking about the complicated situation they put Boca Juniors in when saying the midfielder wanted to join the club.
Speaking to the Argentine media, Ricardo Torreira confirmed that the player should leave Arsenal at the end of the season, but wasn’t sure that the Buenos Aires side would work on signing him.
Well, maybe he didn’t know enough, because today, Boca Juniors president Jorge Amor Ameal claimed to be pretty glad to have the chance to get such a player.
Speaking to Radio Colonia, the official was quizzed about Torreira and other players willing to join Boca Juniors in the next summer. He claimed that vice-president Juan Roman Riquelme is the one who’s been working on those moves.
“It makes me very happy that they want to come,” Ameal told Radio Colonia (via TyC Sports).
Lucas Torreira is currently loaned by Arsenal to Atletico Madrid, where he’s made 26 appearances this season and apparently couldn’t convince the club to keep him.
Since his contract with the Gunners expires in 2023, it’s likely the London side will demand a fee for his departure, and that’s why the Argentine media has been claiming it will be tough for Boca Juniors to secure his signing.
