Hakim Ziyech has no reason to worry about his Chelsea future, so long as he continues to be given chances by Thomas Tuchel this season.
That’s according to Soccer News, who say Tuchel has created an ‘intermediate tactic’ in an effort to get the best out of the Moroccan.
Ziyech has endured something of a difficult first season with Chelsea since arriving from Ajax last summer, with injuries and a lack of form, meaning he has been nowhere near the player that starred for the Dutch champions.
That has certainly been the case under Tuchel, who has so far given less time and fewer chances to Ziyech than his predecessor Frank Lampard.
That has changed over recent weeks, though, and Soccer News argue this is a good sign for the player moving forwards.
His recent goal against Manchester City was a prime example of this working to Chelsea’s benefit, but that was against a high-level opponent, and the situation is different when it comes to those of ‘lower quality’.
In those games, the spaces don’t exist, and Ziyech begins to struggle, as he did in the disappointing draw with Brighton earlier this week.
That was seen as a moment Ziyech could show his ‘absolute added value’ with a goal or an assist, but he was largely anonymous once more.
Such a display only leads many to think Chelsea will get rid in the summer, but the website argues the player doesn’t need to worry too much.
Essentially, he has until the end of the season to make himself ‘indispensable’ to Tuchel.
While the player doesn’t fit naturally into the German’s ideas or system, he has been given ‘too many chances’ to suggest Tuchel isn’t all that keen.
If he fails to make the most of these chances, that may change, and the club target a new winger but only at that point will Ziyech ‘fear for his Chelsea future’.
