With Olivier Giroud’s future up in the air, Timo Werner far from hitting the heights expected from his big transfer and Tammy Abraham struggling to find room under Thomas Tuchel, Chelsea could need a striker in the near future.

It’s not an urgent matter, as they’re currently doing rather well in all competitions, but one name that has started picking up some pace in Italy is that of Andrea Belotti.

A physical and prolific goalscorer when things go well, the Italy international has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, with a fee of €25m touted as potentially enough to get him.

That’s somewhat backed up by Tuttosport on Monday, who report there is a ‘worrying question mark’ surrounding his future at Torino, before mentioning Chelsea as suitors alongside Everton later on in the article.

That’s because ‘there is no optimism’ when it comes to him renewing his contract with the Serie A club, as his current deal expires in 2022.

This means a summer transfer wouldn’t be overly expensive, what with just the one season left, which in itself hands a boost to Chelsea should Marina Granovskaia and co. really be tailing the striker.

We’ll have to wait and see, but it’s certainly an option worth exploring if Tuchel does ask for reinforcements up front.
