Edin Džeko wants to leave AS Roma and is looking for a new club before the window closes on Monday.

The striker has been linked to several Premier League clubs, including Manchester City, West Ham United, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.

Corriere dello Sport provides an update on the 34-year-old’s current situation in the Italian capital and an approach made with the Red Devils.

Džeko’s relationship with manager Paulo Fonseca has fractured, but the player’s disagreement is not just with his coach.

It’s claimed there was a confrontation between Ryan Friedkin, son of Roma owner Dan, and the former City man.

Džeko’s is ‘annoyed’ and is ready to leave the Serie A side for the fourth time, after previous failed attempts. He even changed agents and is now represented by Alessandro Lucci, but that has not helped him to move elsewhere.

The outlet states that in the last few hours, there has been ‘contact with Manchester United’.

The contact with United is likely to have been carried out by Lucci, but Corriere explain there’s likely not sufficient time to ‘reach an agreement’ that can satisfy all parties, particularly Fonseca’s side.

If Džeko leaves on deadline day, Roma will then have to find a replacement for him, ‘without spending money’.
