Manchester United striker Odion Ighalo is a target for Real Betis when he leaves Old Trafford at the end of this month.
Ighalo has been on loan at Old Trafford since January last year when the club brought him in from China in an effort to bolster their forward line.
They extended his deal in the summer, but the arrival of Edinson Cavani means the Nigerian has barely featured since.
His loan deal expires at the end of this month, and Manchester United have elected not to extend it for a second time.
He may now have the option to move to Spain, with Real Betis eyeing a deal according to Estadio Deportivo.
They explain that while Manuel Pellegrini has insisted there is a 99% chance there will be no business this month, ED say the Manchester United man is on a list of potential targets.
It’s stated that Pellegrini ‘especially likes’ Ighalo, who impressed for Watford before moving to China in 2017.
He doesn’t want to return there, nor are Shanghai Shenhua interested in having him back, with them hoping to make money from a sale, which is a problem for Betis.
The only option for them is that Shenhua pay most of his wages on a loan deal until the summer, while they would also need to move one of their current forwards on before they can do business.
The deal is complicated, then, but with interest from MLS and Serie A, and Betis now as well, it seems there are options for Ighalo with his United career coming to an end.
