Nigerian midfielder John Obi Mikel hasn’t made a single appearance under Antonio Conte this season, and that has certainly put his future in doubt at the London club.
Mikel has a contract until the end of the season at Chelsea, and it’s unlikely he’ll be offered an extension.
An exit in January is also likely considering Chelsea could make some money. The 29-year-old has been linked with a move to Marseille, but that could be complicated.
According to Marseille based website Le Phoceen, Mikel could possibly sign for the Ligue 1 club, and that the idea is not completely ‘far-fetched’.
Le Phoceen say Mikel’s current wages level is a little too high for normal Ligue 1 standards, and it remains to be seen if Marseille can find an agreement with the Chelsea midfielder.
Mikel has spent over ten years at Stamford Bridge, but it now appears his time is finally up at the club.
