Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal would be open to bringing PSV Eindhoven striker Donyell Malen back to the club following his rapid rise in the Netherlands.
Malen left the Emirates back in 2017 in a £540,000 move to PSV, having spent two years in the club’s youth ranks after joining from Ajax U17’s in 2015.
He’s enjoyed a rapid rise since then, scoring 33 goals and registering 16 assists in 78 games for PSV so far.
That has naturally earned him plenty of admirers around Europe, with the 21-year-old very much looking like a star of the future.
If he maintains that form, then the suitors are likely to be lining up again, according to Soccernews, and Arsenal may be among them.
They say it is a question of ‘not if but when’ the top clubs will be on his doorstep again, explaining that Juventus held ‘warm contacts’ with his agent Mino Raiola over the summer.
Arsenal are also mentioned, with it stated that they ‘would also see’ him return to the club. In other words, they would be interested should he be available.
For now, though, he isn’t. Malen was did not respond to the interest in the summer and is instead focusing on PSV and maintaining his form so he can make the Netherlands squad for the Euros next summer.
Either way, it seems the suitors are there and keeping an eye on him and his performances this season.
